9 obscure places in Western Ukraine, which are worth to visit

Everybody knows and usually visit the most famous cites. However there are lots of hidden beauties, pleasure from exploring which, will for sure bring more excitement, than from usual cites. Here is a short-list of 9 places worth visiting in Western Ukraine.

1.      Tunnel of love (Klevan, Rivne region)
This tunnel was formed by thickets of trees, bushes, which weaved together in the form of arch. Seeing this impressive green miracle at the very first time, it is hard to believe that it was created by mother-nature , not some landscaper or enthusiast. Local legend says,
 that this beauty of nature appeared after the tragic death of a couple in love. However , most likely, it went to look like this after the track was a bit neglected and workers stopped trimming the branches. Trees and shrubs grown, and train that went there every day, influenced the direction of their growth - and formed a natural arch design, which has now become a favorite destination of tourists and those in love.
2.  Tarakaniv fort (Tarakaniv, Rivne region)

Not far away from Dubno you can locate Tarakaniv fort, which was built to strengthen the western borders of the Russian Empire in the nineteenth century, and is regarded as a pearl of fortification art. Occupying an area of ​​over 4 hectares and with 7 underground levels, on its territory it had bakery, laundry, church, mortuary, 3 wells of water, and other facilities necessary for the life of the garrison. Nowadays Tarakaniv fort welcomes visitors with complex system of tunnels, buildings, bunkers and stairs. Fort can be accessed through entrances in four ditches that surround the building.
3. Dzuryn waterfall (Nyrkiv, Ternopil region)

Dzhurinsky Falls is the highest waterfall plain, not to famous to people outside of Ternopil region. The height of the highest of the three stages is 16 meters. Dzhurinsky canyon, where the fall is located, is regarded, as one of the ten most beautiful places in Ukraine. According to legend, it was artificially created by Turkish-Tatar hordes. 

4.  Zalishchyky (Ternopil region)

Zalishchyky - a small resort town lies in a on the left bank of the Dnister River in southwestern tail, as if on the peninsula. The opposite bank of the Dnister surrounding Zalishchyky from three sides, especially in the south and east, towering above the river 70-120 meters with high and steep wall. 

5. Bakota (near Stara Ushchytsya, Khmelnytskiy region) 
Bakota - place, which you cannot find on the map. Once a village, due to local authorities decision from 1981, it was crossed out from the official credentials, as now river Dnister took its place. Now it's also a part of a national park "Podil Tovtry". 

6.      Манявський водоспад (с. Манява, Івано-Франківська обл.)
This is one of the tallest and most beautiful Carpathian waterfalls. It is situated in a picturesque valley between steep mountains. Height of the Maniava waterfall is about 18 meters. Near the forest on a cliff above the river preserved ancient monastery of the XVII century. Once the monastery was surrounded by a stone wall, where villagers could hide during the raids of the Turks and Tatars. In the past, there was a library of old books. Carpathian beautiful nature, clean air and mountain streams, interesting routes for eco-tourism, pilgrimage places and tranquility have a healing effect on all who want a break from the big city. 
7. Rozgirche (Lviv region)

One of the historical and cultural values ​​of Lviv region is this cave monastery, located near the village Rozgirche . It is located in caves and is a unique example of rock sacred building from XIII-XVI centuries, with not typical for Galicia historical area architecture. The monastery is situated on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the whole valley resistance . Monastery is located in two tiers. On the lower floor lay quarters for living, and on the top - church.

8. Popovychi (Lviv region)

In the nineteenth century, according to the concept of security of the Austro- Hungarian state Przemysl (Poland) was chosen as a strategic point, thus around town, on the hills that surrounded it, a 45-kilometer zone of fortifications were built . It was one of the largest strongholds in Europe, consisting of 57 forts, 6 of which are now in the border area of Ukraine. The best preserved from them is fort "Dzyevyenchytsi". Forts, located in north of the border, are - "Lysichka", "Bykiv" and "Pleshevychi" - unfortunately didn't preserve to well. To the north is the Fort " Marushka Forest". And from the fort " Lysichka ", unfortunately , were the ruins. Each of the forts is situated on a hill and surrounded by a moat. Art-festival «Fort.Missia» is held in this area.
9.    Tract “Pryima” (near Mykolaiv, Lviv region)
Tract "Pryima", is unique in its beauty and history, and lays just 2 km from the city of Mykolayiv, Lviv region. According to archaeologists here are the remains of ancient settlements, including the cave. If you are fond of the ancient past and historical excavations, then you will be interested to visit "home" to Neanderthals.
